With the participation and support of EN Bank, the two-volume book entitled “The cool Oven" was unveiled
The evening of Thursday, December 14, 2017, in a ceremony held in the presence of the founder of EN Bank, the representative of the United Nations Office in the Islamic Republic of Iran, the director of the Department of Anthropology of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Tehran University and a group of university educators and artists of the two-volume book entitled “The cool Oven- Near and Far" was unveiled Contemporary Arts Museum in Tehran.
the two-volume book entitled “The cool Oven- Near and Far" includes photographs by Morteza Poursamadi, the famous Iranian photographer and filming director, which has been published and co-sponsored by EN Bank and Negar Publishing House.
Mohammad Sadr Hasheminihad, the founder of EN Bank, described this two-volume collection as a narrative of the depth of human life and said: "This work emphasizes the importance of documenting and preserving current Iranian culture, civilization and rituals". The founder of EN Bank appreciated 40 years of work and effort by Morteza Poursamadi for documenting this historic enterprise. He added: Each picture represents a profound theme of the life of the people who lived with great difficulty, the hardships that should not be forgotten.
Gray Lewis, representative of the United Nations Office in the Islamic Republic of Iran, thanked the EN Bank for its full support of the project of publishing the book collection and appreciating the work of Morteza Poursamadi in creating lasting images of the nomads' life. He explained: The images of this book represent the life and birth and death of the people who live in the most difficult conditions possible, and addressing this issue reflects the importance of preserving the history and culture of the great Iranian nation for the next generations.
Morteza Poursamadi, the author of the collection, explained a small portion of nomads’ life in recent years and referred to the expansion of urbanization and its destructive effects on the structure and culture of the nomadic life and said: "Usually, images of tribal life in the minds of common people are beautiful and brilliant images on postcards, while the reality of the tribal life is very different.
It is worth noting that the collection is published in 500 black and white pages and includes authentic, pure, and ethnographic images of the life of the nomads of Iran. These have been selected among 4 thousand images that are the result of more than 40 years of efforts of Morteza Poursamadi, the famous Iranian photographer and filming director.
Morteza Poursamadi, was born in 1952 in Hamedan and graduated from the Television and Cinema High School. In his occupational records are traveling and filming documentaries from an anthropological point of view and recognition of Iranian tribes and nomads in more than 500,000 kilometers, holding exhibitions on ethnographic issues and discovering Iranian nomads in Sweden (1999 and 2002), Paris, France (2004, main headquarters of UNESCO), Vancouver, Canada (2007), etc.
